HomeCalcs makes free calculators for home projects. Whether you're painting a bedroom, tiling a bathroom or pouring a patio, the hardest part is often working out how much material to buy. Buy too little and the job stalls; buy too much and money sits in the garage.

How we build our calculators

• Every calculator shows the formula it uses, so you can check the math yourself.
• We use typical manufacturer figures, such as paint coverage or bag yields, and tell you where to find the exact number for your product.
• Every page works in both imperial and metric units.
• We review and update pages regularly. Each page shows when it was last updated.

A note on accuracy

Our calculators give estimates for planning and budgeting. Real projects vary, so always confirm quantities with your supplier and follow product instructions and local building codes. For structural work, consult a qualified professional.
